Abstract

After the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, measures were implemented worldwide with the aim of containing its progression. As a consequence on March 15, 2020, mandatory preventive confinement began in Perú. Studies carried out within the framework of this pandemic in China, have shown psychological consequences as a result of fear of contagion and isolation measures. The objective of this study was to examine the psychological impact of the pandemic during the national confinement lived in Peru, the attitudes and fears towards the COVID-19,the academic performance of children and adolescents during the school year and determine if there is a statistically significant correlation between stress and online education .As a result,We found that 82% of the respondents have shown psychological disorders during isolation and we observe that the most common fears correspond to the categories of contagion / illness / death and social isolation. We also found high levels of emotional impact reflected in fears of the coronavirus, sleep problems, and emotional symptoms (worry, stress, hopelessness, depression, anxiety, nervousness, and restlessness). Finally, we found that there was an increase in stress during the virtual classes during the school year resulting in the poor academic performance of the participants.
