Institutional repositories are repositories of digital documents of different types to access, disseminate and preserve them. Their benefit is in the ability to organize, update, monitor, as well as access to the different research done for each entity. The purpose of this research is to explain the importance of repositories for research in the Peruvian Army as a way to make available the research carried out in the different organizations of the army as a result of the work done by teachers, researchers and students to contribute to social and human development. These repositories, generally developed in DSPACE software and with Open Access credentials, allow ensuring free and open access; that is to say, without prior payment or legal or other restrictions; both academic entities of the Peruvian Army and in general the Armed Forces and National Police and society in general will have unrestricted access. Finally, repositories are evolving in the academic and scientific field, and the different disciplines of Engineering must be prepared to provide a set of services through these systems for the society of today and the future.
